Re-opened in 2014, The Gas is a 350 capacity live music venue that hosts a variety of bands and artists seven nights a week. The possibility of open-air gigs makes this venue truly unique and definitely one to check out. The Grace Darling

Also located on Smith Street, The Grace Darling is an ornate pub from the 19th century that plays host to live indie music and offers locally produced food and beer. Melbourne’s second oldest pub, The Grace Darling is now a modern and sophisticated live music venue, hosting bands almost every night of the week. Open Monday - Saturday 12pm - 1am and Sunday 12pm - 11pm, this classic venue has booked the likes of A. Swayze & The Ghosts, Pseudo Mind Hive and Dune Rats.

 

Yah Yah’s

99 Smith St, Fitzroy VIC 3065

The third and final Smith Street venue on this list, Yah Yah’s describe themselves as “a weekend club for zombies.” Open Thursday 8pm - 4am and Friday and Saturday 8pm - 5am, Yah Yah’s specialise in specialty weekly late night events including Thursgay (Thursdays), Versus Party (Fridays) and Bad Habits (Saturdays). Located on Johnston Street, The Bendigo Hotel is a hard rock lovers’ heaven. Focussing on the metal, punk and hardcore scene, The Bendigo plays host to artists such as Drunk Mums, Amyl and the Sniffers and Frenzal Rhomb. The Tote

Possibly the most iconic live music venue in Melbourne, The Tote is a long running live music venue known for hosting metal, punk and psychedelic rock bands. Located on the corner of Johnston Street and Wellington Street, this venue is also a hotel, pub and bar, operating as The Tote since 1980. Open until 3am Thursday - Saturday, this iconic space has booked the likes of Stonefield, West Thebarton, Luca Brasi, The Bennies and Camp Cope.
